Critters of the Lembeh Strait | Nudibranchs

This video is sure to please the nudibranch lover in all of us divers – over 170 species are represented along with their scientific names just in case you’re curious or keen to learn! Some are common species but many of these are seldom seen or still undescribed by science, and range from tiny (Costasiella kuroshimae, fondly known as the ‘sheep’ nudi, are just a few millimeters long) to relatively enormous, like the amazing ‘solar powered’ nudi, Phyllodesmium longicirrum, which can reach lengths of 20+ centimeters or close to 1 foot and which do really get food energy from the sun. This was compiled by popular request for ID info to complement our ‘March of the Nudis’ video. Some of the scientific names may have changed, so feel free to leave comments if you know of updated IDs, and in the mean time we look forward to a new nudi book, “Nudibranchs and Sea Slugs – Indo-Pacific” by Dave Behrens, Dave Gosliner, and Angel Valdez which will be available in the autumn of 2015!
