Lybia tesselata
Mosaic Boxer crab
Can be found hiding under small rocks. Lybia sp. carapace has a distinct colour pattern. This boxer crab lives in a mutual relationship with small anemones, which is carries in its claws. The anemone’s stinging cells protect the boxer crab against predators and in return, the boxer crab provides food for its protectors. They have a body size of about 1.5 cm and can be found hiding in scattered rocks. They move very fast and are therefore difficult to find. This species defends themselves by carrying small anemones in their claws, just like boxer’s gloves.
