Skeleton shrimp
Caprellids are very small crustaceans, usually seen in great numbers on algae, covering gorgonian sea fans, soft corals and hydroids. When you look at Denise pigmy seahorse, look closer on the sea fan, it is usually covered with these tiny Amphipods. Skeleton shrimp can have various colour, can be orange or purple or spotted, but mainly transparent. The female cares for her young’s by carrying them on their shoulders, protecting them from attacks of cannibalistic males.
