Have a triangular carapace with tall dorsal ridge and single spine at tip, the pale gray with brown network hexagons shows brown blotch. Found mostly in sea grass or sandy area. The size is up to 30 cm.

This species have a different variation color for male that the base color is dark brown back with white spots blue head and sides with bright orange body spots, pale pinkish area below eye. For the female have dark brown to blackish with numerous white spots. The size can be up to 18 cm.

The bump on snout tip are gray to greenish brown with numerous small black spots some forming cluster around edge of pale blue spot. The fin have blue base color with scatter black spots. And the size for adult is can be up to 30 cm. At the juvenile stage the bump on snout tip are whitish to pale gray or brown with dark brown spots. The size for juvenile are 3-10 cm.

This species have a great a lot changing stage on color to become adult. Star in juvenile it has a very bright yellow base color with black spots from head until body. In young adult stage a small bump is show on snout tip and the color change to yellow brownish to olive with black spots on head and few dark ringed bluish spots on body. Continue at intermediate adult the bump on snout tip become tan yellow brow with dark ringed bluish spots, blue fins with black spots. The fins become blue with black spots. And at the last stage and becoming large adult the bump on snout become brownish purple with indistinct spots, often yellow crinkled line marking on head and have yellow tail base. The juvenile size is about 3-8 cm of size and when becoming adult it up to 45 cm of size.
