This species has a brown body with numerous short to long movable spines. It has large dark brown to black blotches with white margins on back and around and below eye. Lives solitary in reef areas, 1 - 90 m depth.

This species has a yellow to brown body with some olive or gray and a white underside. It has numerous short to medium-length movable spines and numerous small black spots on head, body and fins. Lives solitary in reef areas, 1 - 50 m depth.

Also called Balloonfish. Light grey-brown with white underside. Numerous long, moveable spines. Covered with small black spots except on the fins. Brown bar under the eye and several brown blotches on its back. Solitary. When threatened they swell their body until it is three times its usually size, and the body become rigid. It inflates itself by pumping water into its stomach. The stomach expands to nearly a hundred times its original volume, which is made possible by the pleating within the stomach.

Brown back with numerous whitish spotes, white to tan below. Four bars below the eye extend from the mouth to the pectoral fin. Form small groups and inhabit shallow rubble, sand, weed and seagrass areas.

White with light brown spots and four black saddles, the two in the centre extend longer. It is mimicked by mimic filefish (Paraluteres prionurus). Solitary or form small groups. Very common on reefs. Active swimmer and poisonous.

Base body colour of pale brown, dark spots below the dorsal fin, , wavy white to blue and green lines cover the body. Orange tail with bluish bars. The size is up to 9 cm. Found in coral habitats, as well as around structures such as harbours and wharf pilings.

Wide colour variations however black lips and eyes, black pectoral fin bases and a few black scattered spots are consistent. Solitary. Commonly found sitting on sponges or soft coral in coral rich areas in lagoons and reefs.

Grey to greenish-brown upper body, paler below with white spots. White ring around eye and a large black spot with white ring around the pectoral fin. Yellow, transparent colour on the pectoral fins. Solitary. Inhabit mixed coral, sand, rubble and weed bottoms.

Grey with black maze markings, white to yellow belly. Spoke like lines radiate from the eyes and irregular black blotches are found around the pectoral fin base and another on the belly. Solitary. Mostly found in coral reefs habitats.

Brown body with dark brown to yellowish stripes. Large dark spot around the pactoral fin base. Found in coastal mangroves, seagrass beds, weedy areas and sand and silt bottoms.

Whitish undercolor with a dense covering of plat spots on the top. Larger black spots or irregular blotches around the pectoral fin base. Solitary. Inhabit lagoons and reefs.

Also called Orbicular Burrfish. Whitish undercolor with close set brown to red-brown spots, Numerous fixed spike-like spines. Several large darkish gray to red-brown blotches. Found on sandy and rubble bottoms.
