Mottled in shade of tan to yellow brown and red brown. Have 1 or 2 spots on dorsal fin, 4- 5 white spots below dorsal fin, 2 faint bars on upper lip extent into upper mouth. It burrow in sand and rubble hole. The size is up to 9 cm.

Brown base color to yellowish in lower jaw have bluish color also at dorsal and ventral fins. Stay solitary in hole at sand or rubble. Size is up to 10 cm.

It has dark brown upper head and white body, there is 8-10 of pale yellow orange bars at the body. Bright yellow mark on front of upper iris, yellow dorsal, anal and tail fins also some black spot on front of dorsal fin. The male brood the eggs in the mouth for five to seven days. This species can be identified by the yellow mark at the eye, they stay at hole. Size up to 12 cm.
